 WHAT IS TRADITIONAL KARATE-DO?

By "traditional", we mean that this style of karate is being taught as it was handed down from the original Karate Master who developed it.  Our original Karate Master was Kenwa Mabuni, who lived in the 1800's in Okinawa, and who migrated to Japan to teach his art / style of karate.

Often, as is the case w/ this karate style, it also means that what is taught is a way of life, not just a way to fight or hurt people or get revenge on a bully.

This is where the "-do" comes from in the phrase, "karate-do".  "Do" means a path, a life's journey, and a way of living one's life.

Traditional karate teaches that karate is a defensive art, and is not to be used in anger, to get even, or to show off.  As such, a traditional karate-do art teaches / imparts the idea of always having respect for others.

This is especially valuable for children, and is in fact a vital formulative character trait.
